Folder Gluer Machine Price Guide: New, Used and Quote Scope

A Folder Gluer Machine Price Guide is a comparison of dated asking prices, machine configurations and quote exclusions. Comparisons should use the price of a defined machine and package. A collecting table, a refurbished gluer, and a new production line should be included in different comparisons.
Price snapshot, 16 October 2026: one new GK1200PC listing asks US$40,000–60,000; three individual used or refurbished listings ask €18,500, €40,000 and €90,000. These are different machines and currencies, not a market price range.
Start with the carton work you need to price. Then compare installed functions, condition and delivery terms. The examples below separate advertised prices from historical investments and invented calculations, so procurement and finance can use each number for the right purpose. For machine classes and automation features, see our automatic folder gluer buyer guide; the dated offers below identify the configuration and commercial scope behind each asking price.
Public asking prices by exact machine configuration

Public asking prices describe individual machines, not market averages. When quoting a price include the model, condition, currency and the equipment related to the price. The four offers below were checked on 16 October 2026; none is evidence of a completed sale or a matched new-versus-used comparison. They can not be relied on to compare new and used prices.
| Exact offer | Advertised price | Condition and year | Scope stated by seller |
|---|---|---|---|
| GK1200PC listing | US$40,000–60,000; minimum 1 set | New-machine offer; production year not established | Straight-line and crash-lock functions described; the page also contains specifications for several widths. |
| Paktek GM1050 | €18,500, EXW ONO, plus VAT | 2004 build; seller describes used, fully functional | Cold glue system described. Listing updated 30 September 2026. |
| Jagenberg Diana 125 | €40,000, ONO, plus VAT | 1977 build; seller describes used, functional | Seller lists straight-line, crash-lock, 4/6-corner and retrofitted hhs monitoring. Updated 6 January 2026; delivery basis not stated. |
| Heidelberg Diana 90 AUTOSET | €90,000, ONO, plus VAT | Fully refurbished in 2024; original build year not established | Seller describes straight-line, crash-lock and 4-corner capability. Refurbishment is the seller’s description. |
An ONO price means the seller invites offers. It does not indicate the eventual discount. The euro prices exclude VAT as stated in their listings; they have not been converted to dollars. The page for a new machine includes a family of specifications. The headline price for the listed machine should not be related to a speed or power figure quoted for a different model in that family.
The 5-Field Asking-Price Label: save the capture date; exact model and installed configuration; condition plus the meaning of each year; currency and tax/delivery basis; and included equipment. For Paktek, €18,500 would become 16 October 2026 / GM1050 with described cold glue system / used, built 2004 / EUR, EXW ONO plus VAT / remaining inclusions to be agreed. That record is still useful if the live ad is changed.
A €9,000 Bobst HANDYPACK advertisement shows the issue. Its description mentions the collecting table. It is not part of the complete machine table, despite the marketplace’s Folder-gluer classification.
Previous investments explain why these four offers cannot set the market ceiling. Printweek reported in November 2024 that Potts Print invested £135,000 in a Moll Vantage 720 line. Separately, a 2018 Premier Packaging/Bobst agreement mentions an EXPERTFOLD package price of US$849,000, specifically excluding taxes, and marked not final. Neither is a recent quote; the corporate filing is not an independent regulatory verification of the price.
Straight-line, crash-lock and multi-corner price differences

Configuration explains a price difference only if the work to be performed is held constant. Straight-line, lock bottom, 4 corner and 6 corner jobs need different folding arrangements. Blank dimensions, material and delivered inspection/delivery equipment also affect the price. A higher belt speed or a wider box folding gluing machine does not identify carton styles the machine is capable of producing.
Jeff Wilcox’s 2019 PostPress article, written while he was with supplier PPCTS, separates stored-job position recall, motorized carriers without memory, and hand-crank adjustment. Those are different setup packages even when two advertisements both use the word “automatic.” No universal percentage premium follows from that distinction.
| Configuration item | What the price should identify | Buying consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Straight-line folding and gluing | Required glue flap and pre-break arrangement | Price the actual straight-line boxes. |
| Crash lock bottom folder gluer | Bottom-folding tooling and glue application | A carton box folding gluing machine priced only for side seams has a different scope. |
| 4/6-corner work | Installed corner-folding modules and tooling | For a corner box folding gluing machine, family brochures do not establish included tooling. |
| Cardboard folder gluer: paperboard versus corrugated board | Actual substrate and blank format | A paper box and a corrugated box need separate job descriptions; a corrugated box folder gluer must suit the actual board. |
| Job recall | Stored settings and which axes return automatically | Motorized movement alone does not supply memory. |
| Glue application | Cold glue or hot melt glue, heads and controls | The adhesive package can change the comparison. |
| Inspection and rejection | Detection functions plus reject mechanism | Quality inspection must be priced as a complete function. |
| Feeding | Machine feeder versus separate prefeeder | Automatic feeding may still need manual replenishment. |
| Delivery and packing | Compression, collection, packing and strapping scope | A strapping machine and its strap consumables are separate unless explicitly included. |
Let’s consider a converter running repeat orders from solid board. A less expensive box folder gluer machine with motorized carriers might interest an experienced operator recording positions. Stored-job recall is more valuable with frequent changeovers consuming available shift time. Compare the additional purchase price with the time actually released on that job mix. Paying for a 6-corner package provides little immediate value when the machine will be processing straight line cartons only. Functional differences will be covered in our folder gluer machine types guide; operating differences will be covered in our automatic and semi-automatic operation guide.
New versus used folder gluer prices

When you search for used equipment, the asking price becomes meaningful with condition, upgrades, and remaining work defined. Beyond the folding configuration, distinguish original manufacture, refurbishment, and listing dates. The three used offers cited above also vary in equipment, so their prices cannot define the effect of buying used or specify a standard depreciation rate.
The Diana 90 page displays a year of 2024 and claims to be fully refurbished in 2024. Treating that as a new 2024 machine would change the buyer’s judgment without supporting evidence. Keep refurbishment and original build years separate, as well as the actual work performed.
Advantages to compare
A used machine may offer an attractive entry price and an installed option package suited to existing carton work. New equipment allows the quotation to define the required configuration and support package before delivery.
Limitations to price
Used equipment can need repairs, missing tooling or control support. New equipment still has delivery, training and production-fit conditions. Neither label guarantees the lower cost per acceptable carton.
In a November 2025 Packaging South Asia interview, Saroj Art Prints chief executive Manoj Todi described parts, mechanics, service delays and repairs as problems with refurbished equipment. He also indicated a new investment in a DGM Smartfold 1100 SL and other machines. This is a named buyer’s experience as part of an entire plant investment and not an economic analysis of a new versus used folder-gluer price ratio.
There are also some cost implications from destination requirements for an imported used machine. In the UK example, Health and Safety Executive guidance explains that first placing qualifying second-hand equipment on that market can bring conformity-assessment duties. A “fully functional” description does not price this work.
Quotation exclusions that change the apparent price

Comparing quotations involves putting both bids on equal footing. To do that, specify the same scope to both base prices and leave unresolved costs unresolved. Separate the machine package from delivery, installation and training. Only when the configuration and commercial boundaries of both bids match can they be compared; an empty quotation cell should never become implicitly equal to zero.
Same-Scope Price Reconciliation, an illustrative example, is provided below in US dollars. Assume the two machines meet the same carton specification and acceptance criteria. Offer A starts US$10,000 lower, but its required options and commissioning add US$13,000.
| Matched scope | Offer A, assumed US$ | Offer B, assumed US$ |
|---|---|---|
| Base machine | 40,000 | 50,000 |
| Required option package | 8,000 extra | Included in base |
| Required commissioning | 5,000 extra | Included in base |
| Comparable package subtotal | 53,000 | 50,000 |
| Freight and insurance | Excluded; unresolved | Excluded; unresolved |
| Loading, unloading and rigging | Excluded; unresolved | Excluded; unresolved |
| Site power and air preparation | Excluded; unresolved | Excluded; unresolved |
| Taxes and import charges | Excluded | Excluded |
| Current comparison result | US$3,000 higher at matched package scope | Lower package subtotal; not a delivered total |
The calculation is US$40,000 + US$8,000 + US$5,000 = US$53,000. A plant manager now sees the installed functions; procurement sees the exclusions; finance sees why the headline ranking reverses. If one supplier later includes rigging and the other does not, update the boundary before choosing. The lower subtotal, alone, does not confirm technical fit.
Delivery terms require the named place. The ICC Academy’s explanation of EXW and FCA distinguishes buyer-arranged loading under EXW and seller-arranged loading under FCA at the seller’s place. FCA at another place requires a handover of a different nature. Copying EXW terms from the Paktek ad on other offers is not appropriate.
Separate tax cash flow from costs that will not be recovered. For example, HM Revenue & Customs guidance allows qualifying UK importers to use postponed VAT accounting, subject to the normal recovery rules. The example provided is without taxes. For a wider project budget, use the complete purchase-budget guidance.
Five-year cost sensitivity after the machine price

The purchase price needs justification in benefits your operation can realize. Compare equal acceptable output over the same period, using measured staffing, setups and maintenance as benchmarks, if available. The five-year example that follows isolates a purchase premium and annual labor difference; its assumptions are contrived and are neither promised savings nor supplier performance.
“Having an experienced folder-gluer operator still is very important, even with automation and computer technology.”
Five-year ownership-cost example
Assume equal good output, constant annual costs, and no residual value. Both options exclude freight, taxes, financing, energy, glue, board, reject costs and unplanned downtime. These omissions must be added for a complete plant decision.
| Assumed input or result | Option A | Option B |
|---|---|---|
| Purchase and installation | US$50,000 | US$70,000 |
| Labor per year | US$30,000 | US$24,000 |
| Maintenance per year | US$3,000 | US$3,000 |
| Five-year modeled total | US$215,000 | US$205,000 |
| B minus A over five years | US$10,000 lower for B under these assumptions | |
Option A: US$50,000 + 5 × (US$30,000 + US$3,000) = US$215,000. Option B: US$70,000 + 5 × (US$24,000 + US$3,000) = US$205,000. The US$20,000 purchase premium divided by US$6,000 annual net savings gives about 3.33 years of simple incremental payback.
Suppose the plant can release only US$3,000 of labor cost each year. In that case, B totals US$220,000 over five years, US$5,000 above A, and the payback period is about 6.67 years. If staffing costs do not decline and no other monetized benefits are realized, this example has no incremental payback. Released hours and cash savings are different outcomes.
Hidden bottleneck map: slow replenishment points to the feeder; long repeat-job setups point to settings and tooling; delivery queues point to collection or packing; rejected cartons point to process control and inspection. Price the constraint that limits good output. A faster automatic folder gluer machine cannot remove a separate manual packing constraint by itself. PostPress’s 2026 Signature report describes separate material-handling and packing options, not a universal labor-saving percentage.
Starting with your own numbers, work the folder gluer Return-On-Investment Calculator and keep its assumptions. Treat production efficiency as good cartons delivered, not a high-speed rating alone. A high speed folder gluer machine earns its premium only if the rest of the line can also use that additional output.
Price updates, documentation and supplier identity

An indicated price requires a scope and defined seller to allow a buying decision to be made. Indicate the date the quotation was revised and the quotation’s expiration date. Separate included equipment from optional upgrades. Announcements about what a particular supplier offers do not establish a decrease or increase in the prices of machines in the industry for 2026.
For safety documentation, ISO 12643-4:2023 is the published second edition for converting equipment, replacing the withdrawn 2010 edition. Its public abstract excludes machinery or components manufactured before publication. This bibliographic record does not certify the machines mentioned, and does not cover the destination’s requirements.
- Match the seller’s legal identity, model and serial number to the quotation.
- Separate original build date, refurbishment date and the latest offer revision.
- Identify the exact glue, inspection, servo and delivery options included in the automatic folding gluing machine.
- Put acceptance requirements, support scope and quotation validity in the commercial documents.
Compare the support offered by folder gluer manufacturers to the actual service offered by the selling company. A claim of high precision or high-efficiency production is not a priced acceptance criterion until the carton and measuring method are defined.
Supplier names and the manufacturer names can be different in different market places. Keep both clear. The price of a used Bobst or Brausse machine, for example, belongs to the particular selling company and does not reflect the price of either manufacturer’s new machines.
Choose the right next quote for your carton work

Request a scoped quotation for the carton work you actually intend to produce. Send the dimensions of flat blanks, material and carton style, and the job mix and required delivery arrangement. Australia’s official folder-gluer operating unit ICPCBF3950 mentions job specifications, selection of adhesive, and sample and setup checks. This provides the technical context required for a price enquiry.
For a small converter making short carton box runs, determine whether setup time or order quantity drives the investment. The carton folder gluer machine is within the broader post-press workload; record order changes per shift and whether packing needs an extra operator. When quoting a folder gluer for corrugated packaging, include the packing work that is still done manually, and mention the corrugated cardboard grade and the blank format. A corrugated folder gluer machine quoted for a corrugated carton job should be trialed on your cardboard box format before the quote is accepted. For carton and corrugated board production, place confirmed 4/6 corner jobs before the speculative future jobs. These cases lead to different options without requiring the artificial introduction of a universal budget.
A dedicated folding gluing machine processes blanks for carton making. A flexo folder gluer or casemaker combines other production functions; a cutting machine, laminating machine or box stitching machine belongs to a different scope. A combined folder gluer stitcher also requires its stitching package to be shown separately. Do not compare their prices as substitutes just because a catalogue refers to each as a box making machine. Where imperial and metric drawings differ, convert the blank dimensions quoted prior to sending them.
When moving a plant from a basic box folding machine to automatic folding, separate labor tasks that change from those that remain. For example, a box gluing machine may automate the fold and adhesive application while operators perform loading, collection and packing. These differences are important across the packaging industry, especially if a fully automatic folder is offered in a larger line.
Use our carton production selection guide to develop job details, then explore the Cenwan folder gluer range for a quotation tied to those details. Include required capacity, staffing, allowable reject criteria and product family so the response can differentiate the base machine from optional equipment.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a folder gluer cost?
The checked examples include one new listing at US$40,000–60,000 and three different used or refurbished machines at €18,500, €40,000 and €90,000. These are seller asking prices, not a market range. Model, installed options, condition, currency and delivery basis differ. Use the dated table to identify individual offers, then obtain a current quotation for the same carton work and included equipment.
Are used folder gluers always cheaper than new ones?
No general comparison can be made from the used label alone. A large refurbished machine with installed inspection and corner-folding equipment may be offered at a higher price than a smaller new machine with fewer functions. This does not isolate depreciation. Consider equivalent production scope, then add known costs for repair, tools and installation. The available listings do not provide matched new and used transaction prices from which a reliable discount can be calculated.
Does a quoted price include the glue system?
Glue-system inclusion depends on the specific offer. A cold glue system listing might not provide specifics on all heads, controllers, monitors, and optional hot melt packages offered for sale with the system. Those should be included in the quotation. A folder gluer machine priced for a simple side seam is not automatically priced for every crash-lock or multi-corner application your plant may run.
What is the machine warranty?
Use that seller’s written warranty for the machine. Ask who handles warranty claims and which documents the seller requires before dispatch. Separate parts, labor, travel and exclusions; a new-machine listing’s warranty does not transfer to a different used or refurbished offer.
What is the production time after placing an order?
No standard lead times have been verified for these offers. The researched listing gives different production and delivery lead times across its sections. Ask for the current machine-specific schedule, the event that starts it, and the expected commissioning date. A machine may be ready for shipment, but other activities such as transport, installation and training may still be required before saleable cartons can be produced. When comparing quotations, consider lead times for shipment separately from lead times for production readiness.
Are stock machines available?
A machine listed for sale on Machinio or another marketplace is not reserved by its listing. A “get latest price” button does not guarantee availability. Availability, included tooling and the dispatch condition need to be confirmed by the current seller for the specific machine.
What is the difference between listing price and delivered price?
A listing price covers the seller’s stated scope. Delivered price depends on destination, delivery term and additional work. Loading and freight may be separated from insurance and unloading. Other packages may include rigging, installation and training. Tax treatment is impacted by the transaction and the buyer. Items may be reconciled using the reconciliation table. Keep any costs which have not been resolved visible in the table. Do not call a machine-only subtotal the price to start production.
